The CAP program for the prevention of violence and abuse of children is a primary prevention program. Its primary goal is to strengthen the protective factors of children and protect them from various forms of violence and abuse.

Through different positive age-appropriate activities we teach children how to recognize potentially dangerous situations and we also present ways to respond to them appropriately. The preventive strategies we present and strengthen are assertive behavior, peer support, communication skills and the strengthening of their supportive social networks.

The main message of the CAP program for children and adults is that all children have the right to be SAFE, STRONG and FREE.

In Slovenia, the program is implemented for preschool children and younger schoolchildren.

The CAP program was developed by the International Center for the Abuse Prevention in the USA (http://www.internationalcap.org/). The ISA institute is the coordinator for the implementation of CAP programs in Slovenia, which have been carried out since 1998.
