SAFE WITHOUT VIOLENCE

An integrated primary prevention program that focuses on bullying and sexual violence to the detriment of children and adolescents.

The Neon Program

The main objective of the program NEON – »Safe Without Violence« is to strengthen the protective factors of children, adolescents, their parents and school professionals. The program promotes a holistic approach of educational institutions to the prevention of violence. It highlights the important supportive role of peers who witness bullying. It helps them to properly respond in these situations and teaches them how to help and stop bullying. Even in cases of sexual abuse, the support of peers can significantly influence the child’s decision to speak up about violence. The program also includes parents and staff in educational institutions as important stakeholders who can assist in the prevention of bullying and sexual violence.

Two primary prevention programs will be united to create the »Safe Without Violence« program, both of which have been carried out for specific age groups for many years in Slovenia and are recognized as appropriate preventive methods by children, parents and professionals in educational institutions. These programs are the »CAP program for the prevention of violence and child abuse« and the »No more bullying« program, both of which will be upgraded with added content to enhance social and emotional competencies of children and with modules for high school students.

The integrated program will include five modules: a module for pre-school children, modules for the first, second and third triad of primary school and a module for high school students. Besides children and students, the modules will also include their parents and professionals in kindergartens and schools.
